Botany
Pisa is a slender, medium-sized palm, growing to about 4 meters tall, with a slightly bulging crownshaft. Stem about 15 centimeters in diameter. Leaves are dark green, about a meter long. Fruits are narrowly ellipsoid-oblong or subfusiform, about 3 centimeters long and 9 millimeters in diameter.

Distribution
- In primary forests at low altitudes in Lanoa and Zamboanga Provinces in Mindanao, and in Basilan.
- Considered endemic species in the Philippines.
- Lower risk/near threatened status in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

- Raw terminal bud given to children as vermifuge.
- The tip used as medicine to eradicate fungus.
